Classy but still regular folk friendly. A lot like Jackie Kennedy herself. Let's bring dignity, grace and a little class back to the US of Assholes. I found this on Better Homes & Gardens but I'm sure this recipe isn't copyrighted by them and I despise them for their partnership with evil Walmart for their cheap made in China home decor items, so I'm not linking to their original article. Holla.
During her time in the White House, First Lady Jackie Kennedy was known for serving French cuisine, the Better Homes & Gardens article said. However, during a visit from Princess Grace of Monaco, the First Lady served Strawberries Romanoff. The simple fruit dessert starts with sliced strawberries and a rich whipped cream and that's pretty much it. It can easily be made without the brandy for those who need or prefer a non alcoholic version. Just use the alcohol free vanilla flavoring shown at the end of this article.
How to Make Strawberries Romanoff
You can have this entire dish prepped in just 10 minutes. And it requires just a few simple ingredients. Here's a quick look at how to make Strawberries Romanoff.
Mix together sour cream, brown sugar, and brandy. If you don't want to use brandy in your dish, swap in vanilla extract or the non alcoholic vanilla flavoring below.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream and sugar together until thick.
Fold the whipped cream into the sour cream mixture and stir gently until combined. If you're making the dish ahead, this is the time to pop it into the fridge until you're ready to serve.
Slice up some fresh strawberries and serve them with a generous dollop of the cream mixture.
Here's the actual ingredient list with amounts from a post somewhere someone took from a Houston newspaper they didn't name, so I can't credit them. You could make a lower sugar/carb version using golden Monk Fruit sweetener like shown below this article instead of brown sugar and your favorite low calorie sweetener instead of the regular sugar.
Ingredients
Units: US
1⁄2 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon brandy or 1 tablespoon vanilla
1⁄2 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons sugar
4 cups fresh strawberries
I do all this for free and mostly for fun but tips are always appreciated. Holla! paypal.me/brucecoffman
