As I come out of a fog of depression, I have lurked sites with news and updates. I see how the kickoff of this disastrous second Trump term is already shaping up. While I could find work in doomsaying, waiting for the inevitable next wave of bad, be it environmental, financial, sociopolitical, my energy levels for such are too low to care. Most of us who vote for harm reduction knew and worked hard to show others what the consequences of electing Donald Trump would be. But sadly, unlike in 2020 where it seemed at least enough people understood the assignment, we had several groups in marginalized communities who just didn't seem to care passed their own entitlement. There self-driven antics, fueled by one issued grievance, costs us more than just a national election. It costs us the soul of our democracy.
Now these same groups cry for "unity" as Trump and his cabinet of oligarchy launch their campaign of hate and terror. His comments on Gaza should shock no one, he was saying the same thing about turning Palestine into a "beach front resort" before he was re-elected. Several Arab Americans, especially here in Michigan, were vocal that he would be a better choice than Kamala Harris who was poised to call for an immediate cease-fire between Isreal and Palestine. These people are now begging on social media for unity. I can't help but shake my head at the hubris. Now that you are in trouble of your own making, you want the help of who? The Black women you disrespected on a fundamental level. We fought with you the first time he was elected, as he literally instated a Muslim ban. But was it enough for you to trust us in 2024? No, so why would we waste energy, resources and time that will be needed to protect ourselves to help you when you told us with your full chest we didn't matter?
And to our Mexican Americans, many of you who emulate parts of our culture while scorning us as lower than you. You really thought Trump meant it when he said "only the bad ones would be rounded up..." Not realizing that for him all of you are the "bad ones." He wants to eliminate "birth right citizenship" not only to make sure you have no wiggle room even if you are here legally. But to inflict such cruelty on anyone he deems "non-American enough." And yet some of you still boldly walk around with your MAGA gear as if you won't be in a Trump detention center soon. And when that happens, do not look for women like me to shed a single tear. I have learned these last few months of mulling over the what ifs, that I have resigned myself to just watch the unfolding of this evil. My only solace is that while my people are already being targeted with the DEI attacks on federal and government jobs, we know how to navigate this level hate. It's been ongoing for us for centuries; it just gets a new upgrade each generation.
We will weather this shit storm, while those of you who sowed this awful will have to figure out how to deal with the karma you are about to reap. Your cries for Unity will be left on read as far as I am concerned.

As a woman in a red dot in a blue state I am not unifying with anyone who voted in this crap. Let them feel the ramiifications of their actions. Having said that, to the writer here, who says she is a writer, why do you not LEARN how to write? Why do you not learn your craft, to actually BE a writer? The grammar is absolutely awful, there is not a single good reason with so much technology available that you would not utilise spellcheck, or even AI to edit the many issues and mistakes in every single article you 'publish.' I'm not sure if its laziness, lack of eduation or both, but I went through and read other…
I have been warning people in my area since 2015 about the extreme right-wing & christofascists in our midst. I felt like a goddamn Cassandra. I'm a blue dot in a red area of a blue state. As a woman, I feel betrayed by every person who voted for Trump. My granddaughter is tri-racial. Her black/hispanic father voted for Jill Stein. He thought we should just blow up the system. I asked him what his plan was to replace it. Now he can watch the GOP/Project 2025 burn it all down. Now this little 3yo girl's life is less safe b/c overt racism is en vogue again, her rights as a woman are at risk, education will be gutted, healthcare…
Fire! I'm right there with you as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I couldn't even get my own community to rise up in our own defense. I'm pretty well done with "unity."
