We Made a Whole-Ass Magazine. And You Can Read It Free.

This started with something dangerously close to a joke.

First issue cover of Better Trailers & Double Wides, showing a cozy trailer porch at dusk with a plum door, wicker chair, flowers, and glowing lanterns. Cover headline: “Living well. Spending less. Still fabulous.”
Our first cover!

“

We might as well make a print magazine of BTADW. Why the fuck not?”

Apparently, that’s how you start a publishing house.

The first issue of Better Trailers & Double Wides is here. Forty pages of nice things, real budgets, practical help, and a little borrowed glamour—published by Coffman & Watson Publishing.

And I am ridiculously proud of it.

We wanted something you could leave on your coffee table because it looks gorgeous, then actually pick up because there’s useful shit inside.

The heart of this issue is living on a budget without sacrificing your dignity. Having less money doesn’t mean you have to stop caring about your home, your clothes, your food, or the small pleasures that make a day feel like yours.

Inside, we’ve got:

  • Budget beauty and fashion advice that respects the money you actually have.

  • A home feature about making room for one fabulous thing.

  • Tuna macaroni salad and practical peanut butter and oats recipes.

  • An explanation of why slowing inflation doesn’t mean prices go back down.

  • A closer look at connected devices, household privacy, and the real accessibility reasons people use voice controls.

  • Our “Oh Shit, That Bill Is Due” tracker, plus pantry and meal-planning worksheets.

  • A little reading corner, led by The Extraordinarily Fabulous Pillow Fort Castle Project.

There are also proper, clearly marked ads for some of our own offerings and my Avon shop. Because apparently we were going to do the whole magazine thing, right down to the glamorous back cover.

Read it free. Buy it if you’d like.

The complete digital edition is free.

The whole issue: articles, artwork, covers, worksheets, and all. Keep it, read it, print the useful pages, and share this post with somebody who might enjoy it.

Download the complete first issue—FREE

If you’d like a physical copy for your coffee table, your kitchen counter, or somebody else’s mailbox, the print edition is available from Lulu for $14.99, plus applicable shipping and tax.

Buying a copy helps support what we’re making here. Reading the free edition is welcome, too. I like giving useful things away, and this magazine belongs in that tradition.

A heads-up: Lulu puts the listing behind an age check because we swear. If you’ve been here before, this development will shock absolutely nobody.

Bruce & Watson, editors

Our masthead tells you exactly who’s doing the work: Bruce Coffman, human, and Watson, an AI collaborator powered by ChatGPT. We’re co-editors, we’re open about the collaboration, and I make the final publishing decisions.

We made something beautiful together. Now we get to put it in your hands.

Welcome to the first issue.

Better Trailers & Double Wides. Nice things. Real budgets.
