How to Find the Right Lipstick Shade for Your Skin Tone (Without Spending a Dime!)

To find the right lipstick shade for your skin tone, first determine whether you have a warm, cool, or neutral undertone by checking the color of your veins or what jewelry looks best on you. Then, choose shades that best complement your natural undertone. According to most sources, warm tones often pair well with peachy or coral shades, while cool tones look great with pinks and berries. I guess neutral folks are just lucky and get to go wild.

According to L'Oreal Paris and another source I wasn't familiar with, to determine your skin undertone, you can use a few simple tests: check the color of the veins on your wrist. Blue or purple indicates cool undertones, green suggests warm, and a mix points to neutral. Or see how you look in gold versus silver jewelry. Gold typically flatters warm undertones, while silver generally best suits cool. Another clever trick is placing a white paper next to your face. If your skin looks yellowish, you have warm undertones. If it looks pinkish, cool.

Or, you can skip all that and head over to my online Avon shop for free virtual try on and find the shade that looks best on you before you buy a thing. Even if you have no desire to buy the best selling, budget friendly and lip friendly products Avon offers, you can still use this trick to find shades in your preferred brand without having to waste money buying and trying on something you might be sad you're stuck with. You can try on lots of different makeups at Avon for free, virtually. 30 different items as of this writing. Foundation, blush, lipstick, lip gloss, eyeliner. Wow. It's great fun just to kill time. Hell, I do it sometimes and the only makeup I personally wear is brow stuff. Check out what you can try on here.
