A Formal Letter of Resignation

As a member of the 92% I tender my resignation in being an American Shield or Savior.
As a member of the 92% I tender my resignation in being an American Shield or Savior.

To whom it may concern,

When I was born into this country, it was clear that my path here would be one of challenge. Not from my own upbringing or education. But from the poisonous mentality that has permeated our nation for centuries. The blood, sweet, tears of my ancestors, the tired hands that picked in fields, built buildings, railways, created the very economy you use to keep us in a dysfunctional caste system. The systemic racism, the hate we have to learn to accept as young as elementary school children. The having to learn how to navigate a world that pretends they don't need us, but whenever things go wrong are the first to call on us. We give you our best our brightest, our strongest. You scoff and tell us mediocre wealth hoarders are better. We spend our time and energy trying to educate you how to stop giving into false platitudes and join us to protect all of our stability, and you gave us a resounding "NO!" So, I write this letter of resignation for myself, though others who feel like me can kindly use this. This is not just some emotional response; this is centuries of my people doing "the right thing." Only to constantly meet a wall of self-entitled oppression. We have given America enough chances, we have suffered constant and ongoing abuse, we navigate a system that is not just stacked against us, but made to harm us yet blame us for said harm. A human being which we all are whether some accept it or not can only take so much harm, can only stand so much indignity, can only shed so many tears to the humiliation, and lack of care for our very lives. So, I give this notice to America, do not call for me to protest, carry your messages, do not look for me and mine to risk our bodies for your preventable issues. We gave you a clear chance at stability and harmony, and you chose this path of discord. This notice asks you to find those among the people who voted for this current regime, sat out or tossed their vote to Jill Stein or RFK Jr to pick up the task of solving this problem yourselves.

Sincerely,

A member of the 92%

I wrote this after seeing someone tell black people it's not "revolutionary to sit out when our country is in trouble..." I ask you the reader, who put this country there? Who told us consistently with their attitudes and their voting that our lives didn't matter? Who were the ones who thought they would be fine and only we would suffer? Now that you are reaping what your internalized bigotry has sown, it is on you to detoxify yourselves and try to save this nation. But given so many of you still look for "heroes" who are loud but take no direct actions, I'd say your troubles are really just about to begin. And to those of us who have already navigated this country under oppression, we will know how to move and protect ourselves, as you struggle against this self-inflicted damage you did to our country. Watching you mess up this big a second time and expecting us to clean it up for you will not happen the way you want. If we cannot help you at the polls, then I suggest you get used to the fool king and his clown court your apathy and hatred installed. I hope this makes it clear, but I doubt so many of you will truly understand how done with this repetitive nonsense you have made a lot of us.

NOT saying it's anywhere near the same, so folks, save those attacks, but as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I feel this to my very CORE!
